Did you say it?

I’ve been reading a couple of posts about people’s feelings regarding the Doctor’s Gallifreyan wife. I think people are putting way too much emphasis on that relationship. I can’t remember any instances in any Classic Who that I watched where he spent any amount of time talking about this wife who he left behind on Gallifrey. Most of the time, he treats Gallifrey and any obligations he has to his home planet as an annoyance. To me, it was sort of alleged that this mysterious wife was procured by an arranged marriage. Time Lords were scientists for he most part. With the exception of a few, they were fairly disciplined and not overtly emotional. Most did not marry for love. They married to improve political standing and for genetics.
If the Doctor, by chance, did marry for love then why leave her behind? Why never visit? Couldn’t be that much of a loving relationship considering he left her and given his flirting with Romana in his fourth incarnation.
What’s the basis for this alleged Gallifreyan wife love story thing coming from?
My guess? Insecurity about his affection for and connection to Rose. Which, honestly, I find it telling that they’re so threatened by this relationship (this canon relationship, mind), that they have to try to drag this up as a way to sink the ship.
NICE TRY.
Also: babies were made with Looms on Gallifrey. Just cuz he had kids doesn’t mean he ever had to have sex to achieve them. In fact, its more likely they were not conceived naturally.
Also also: having a family doesn’t not automatically denote DEEP AFFECTION. Even if he had sex with his Gallifrey wife, it doesn’t mean he loved her. It doesn’t even automatically mean she was his WIFE. Most people know this.
I’m not saying that he didn’t have a wife on Gallifrey and that he didn’t love her. I’m just saying there’s no reason to believe 100% that he DID have a wife and that he did love her.
Okay, I’ve put this off long enough. I don’t know if I can do Doomsday today as well though. We’ll see. MY FEELS.

I do try. ;)

To the person who replied on my “Defense of Rose” post…

I tried to read the response, I really did. But… I got bored. Same shit, different day. *yawn* I feel like I should care but I just can’t. Sorry about that. I’m sure you have really great opinions and are making a really great point but everything I saw was something I’ve already seen countless times before so it was just kinda white noise in my ears.
Happy Tennant Tuesday - Sexy!Specs Edition Pt 2 - 18 June 2013
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat.
I tried to find the sound.
I am unable to think up a good theme for this Tuesday. I blame that partially on the fic writing that has taken over my brain. So I invite you to go check out my Tennant Tuesday tag. There’s plenty of lovliness over there. :) If I think up a theme later on, I’ll post it, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I think I shall be busy enough with the writing!
